Formerly a part of the U.S. Army's Fort Monmouth complex, Suneagles Golf Course has long been considered one of the country's most prominent Department of Defense-run golf courses. Suneagles was initially purchased by the U.S. Army in 1942 for $42,000 and has hosted multiple All-Army Golf Tournaments.
Now open to the public, golfers will notice the remains of what was once an active military base. Holes weave through abandoned barracks, courtyards, and basketball courts - giving off a sense of eeriness and providing awareness of the history that makes up the grounds.
There is significant construction taking place at Suneagles (2022). They are currently making improvements to the Clubhouse as well as building condos where the barracks once stood.
