Jack’s Place.
A theater designed for the pros. As a mid-handicapper, I couldn’t pass up the chance to play one of the meccas of golf, even if that meant I was in for a 4-hour ass-kicking.
There’s not much room to miss on The Championship Course. A lack of accuracy off the tee box means you’ll be searching for your ball in one of the many narrow creeks that flow through holes. An errant approach shot will have you standing over a fierce downhill chip shot buried in one of Muirfield’s green-side bowls, designed to facilitate fans attending the Memorial tournament. Lies are tight, greens are fast, and pin locations can be straight-up devilish.
Muirfield is a pure golf experience. From the perfectly manicured golf course to the practice range to the modern yet homey clubhouse, your time at Muirfield is best spent appreciating that you’re a pro for a day, regardless of your score.
Grab a milkshake post-round and hit the ping pong room.
Milkshake order: The Buckeye, which lived up to its reputation as the star of the show.
