Mercer Oaks is a municipally run 36-hole facility. With two contrasting course design styles, East and West, it’s a fitting place to play your morning and afternoon rounds.
The West course is a Parkland-style track that is relatively flat and easily walkable. Several holes wrap around and serve up views of beautiful Lake Mercer.
The East course has all the feels of a heathland-style course situated naturally on Jersey farmland. Uneven fairways, thick rough, and strategically placed bunkers put pressure on golfers to be accurate off the tee.
Stick around for a post-round drink on the clubhouse’s patio overlooking the West course’s 9th hole. There’s also a bar with outdoor seating on the other side of the clubhouse (next to the pro shop) with views of the West’s 1st and 10th holes.
Post-round meal: Make the drive to family-run Papa’s Tomato Pies. They claim to be the oldest continuously run pizza restaurant in America – don’t be afraid to over-order.
